About 002・Battat

A unique little die who stands out among the crowds and crowds of the other red Pippinses for their green theme and much more emotional nature. (they're short-tempered, anxious, and insecure, to put it short.)Over time she became a bit attached to Tenna despite knowing she had absolutely no chance with Tenna in general. As the general story went on, this lead to her taking up the role of Mike, eventually dragging in her two closest friends (A Shadowguy and a Zapper)She's known those two for the longest time, and they got along initially for each standing out in some way among their peers. Funnily, they started to become suspicious of this Pippins' suddenly sneaky nature, at the same time trying to excuse and push off the face she was clearly overwhelmed with something, pressuring her to fess up, which lead to her dragging the two into the Mike gig (from her POV), now that 'the secret's out'. (From the other two's POV, they were willingly wanting to help out the overworked Pippins)Eventually, the three were found out by a certain group, but still persisted in keeping up their act, be it for Tenna or, in this one's personal case- "feeling important". The jokes, in-costume, about wanting to be 'the main Mike' just further hinting at the silly little crush on Tenna, primarily - seeing it more than just 'being his assistant' - doubling both in and out of costume.Despite that, Battat feels like Tenna would never genuinely care for what's beneath the costume- just a Pippins. Regardless of all she's done and how she's always been there, never not.
At the same time, her boss drives her up a wall with his clinginess towards the Mike persona and the contrast into how he brushes off the Pippins underneath.
...Her feelings towards her boss being considerably hot and cold.
Alas, she can't let the secret out.

A Little Backstory...

She's a black/green marbled D20. She came in a set, but it's unknown where the other dice went.・Initially she was bought from a hobby store by Dess and Asriel on an after-school trip. The set was then shared between them- Primarily residing at Dess' house for when Asriel would visit, considering it was Dess who initially bought them - her money spent, ect. Asriel pointed them out, at least.

It's definitely where Battat picked up on her hobby/habit of overthinking and theorising things, along with the idea of keeping a corkboard. Also where they got the idea for some of their style choices.
Dess considered them and the dice-set they came in to be rather unique and even lucky with the set's high-rolls during games. (Hence the where the joke came from, of the other Pippinses making about 'the green ones being rigged'.)Ineviteably, most of the set was taken to the school, before eventually, Asriel brought the remainder of the set home after a specific set of events. Many of the others were separated, and became just as lost as some of the Rudinns (Mentioned by a Pippins in the green room of ch. 3).

She wasn't in Card Kingdom long enough to formally serve under anyone and typically followed the lead of the other pippinses, while being a quiet observer. Staying out of the way and taking note on everything in her surroundings. (Leading to other habits she has- mentioned elsewhere on this page.)
They'd typically wear a red poncho to help this habit, and go about like they were 'staying out of the way'... Lest they run into a King, in which they immediately became obedient to keep from causing or starting trouble - even by mistake.
The kings which stood out to them the most were the Club and Spade kings.

They were certainly around to witness some of the calamity before being brought to the Dreemurr house, and being pulled into a TV World contract.

About the chosen Name:
The name they're most attached to and even claim as their own is: Battat・Over time, they grew to like the name, and the meaning itself. This was shortly after 'caving' and deciding to match with the other two Mikes choosing their nicknames based off their respective hosted Minigames ...This made referring to the Pippins as something other than just 'Pippins' or the contract number, much easier and more personal.
(This was after Pluey decided he liked his game's name enough to formally use it. Funnily, Pluey would even call his friends by their minigame names for fun - much to Battat's dismay at the time. Jongler happily went along with the nickname.)

And honestly? She could never really decide on a proper name for herself - recieving many nicknames, but nothing really sticking for her until 'Battat'.
Midori was a nickname she had for a while prior to this, before ultimately sticking with Battat. (As she had more special attachment with it, mentioned above^)

In-tandem, she does enjoy the Cat Petterz minigames (and gaming in general) in-tandem, and considers herself to be quite good at Battat, hence why she 'hosts' it. She'd be lying if she also didn't favour the name for that.
(How nerdy.)On the topic of being nerdy, she (still) carries around a notepad, in which she can jot down notes and thoughts as they come to mind. It's the primary place she keeps track of her Mike Theories... And anything else she deems important to remember...
Or things that she might just want to get off her mind.
It's nestled away in her poncho somewhere.On the topic of little hobbies and such - I imagine she made her costume, and got very particular with the details. (Adding her own flair here and there)They've gotten rather good with a thread and needle over the years and have an easy time patching up costumes and different outfits - along with putting together new ones. Very useful for other things in TV world, as well, and generally was one of their side-tasks as one who worked 'behind the scenes'....Definitely made herself her very own Tenna plushie utilising her newfound hobby.
Later, they made one of each of the Mikes. In-costume. May or may not be working on out of costume variants, too.Another little hobby they have, which goes in-tandem with the fact they can sometimes imitate voices (Pippins magic in general, in my headcanons): They enjoy singing. Though they never do this out of costume as being in costume, they're much more confident and "not Battat". It is unknown if anyone has ever heard Battat singing - not Mike.

Her duties as 002, primarily - Not Mike.
When they first started out in the studio, they did basic script editing, for the most part. Being assigned that due to their desire to be behind the scenes.From time to time, she was assigned to different places as needed, due to some other Pippinses being slackers. One of which, included the Costume Department. Due to sewing being one of her hobbies (mentioned below) - she enjoyed each time she was temporarily assigned to this sort of position - patching up costumes and adding onto them as she saw fit, with what she thought would look nice.
(Despite the distant connection, this was implied by Mippins, as well, mentioning it's how she learned how to braid ribbons. It applies to all of the Green Pippinses I write.)

Over time they were promoted to a supervisor-type position of sorts, due to their specific Tenna's favoritism. This made it easier to access things better for their currently-still-secret role as Mike.

This Die is agender, using any/all is fine. tends to lean more fem in presentation, even preferring they/she・primarily using he/they when costumed, to match with Jongler's identity as Mike.
Essentially okay with being referred to with anything.
On that note, they don't mind fem and masculine titles/terms. (ie, sir, auntie, ect, depending on the situation...) Though calling them difinitively male or female will result in a response like: "I'm not really anything."
On occassion, they'll call themselves a girl or boy off hand (in jest), but it STILL doesn't mean anything.

This Battat is Pippins No. 002, right after Cool Pippins, following the idea that Cool Pippins is 001.They're shorter and slightly younger than the other Pippinses. (more detail below.)They're super self-conscious about their Pippins form and everything about it - more reason they preferred being in-costume than out. Maybe they'll come to terms with this, too, one day. Somehow.Once she's in the costume, everything else is seemingly suppressed. It's like an entirely different person.They care deeply for their two friends - trusting them more than anyone else with everything and allowing them to see past the rough and stubborn exterior..She doesn't let onto it too easily, but she really, REALLY admires (and even has feelings for) the other two Mikes. Terrified of rejection and harbouring a lot of self-doubt - she tries her best not to let onto this. ⋮ "They would never like me that way, right?"...She's the type to bottle up and bury her feelings until a breaking point. Still, trying - emphasis on trying, not to show such a vulnerable side, even if everything is falling apart.She's a little rough around the edges, but overall she's polite and caring- albeit a little fussy and hotheaded at times. In her own ways, even if she's bad with words- she's better with gestures and gifts.

Picked up a mild smoking habit from their Shadowguy Friend who does it too.Absolutely loves Battery Acid despite the pain. ...This die's a little weird. Make of that what you will.Primarily lives off of coffee and energy drinks, though. Really, this one is bad at taking care of herself and is too hooked to working to even care for sleeping properly, or even eating anything proper beyond a scrounged up snack or two or the occasional gift from co-workers. .. This is likely why she tries to at least look decent in appearance, even if everything beneath is in shambles. 'Less others will judge' - as they put it.On a similar note, Battat has a hard time accepting compliments and gifts from others (let alone confessions), often wondering if theres some underlying reason, or a 'catch' to the whole thing. They're too used to standing out and being weird or unaccepted by most. Feeling like their position in the studio, would lead to a few wanting to take advantage of them.On the topic of feelings … they get crushes easily and feel like that's all it'll ever be. Anyone having feelings for them? Impossible - so their mind tells them …

She certainly gets nervous when admitting she likes, or even loves someone. Her feelings on this stuff are honest, but that fear of rejection or even being made fun of, tends to hit her when she tries.
It will often come out as a stutter when it does. Battat will definitely find other ways to further show her love for someone as she warms into the idea of openly proclaiming her feelings.

Physical attributes
This version of Battat is shorter than the average (approx) Pippins at: 121.92cm(4ft) - that is, if one sees the avg Pippins at 152.4cm(5ft)
They have some strange looks going on due to being a different-type of Die. A lot of which they feel self-conscious over.
That being:
Green arms with a slightly glittery sheen・Sharp Teeth・Gold freckles (2 pips under each eye.)・green tipped eyelashes・glittery eyes (Seen in a certain light)・light-green sclera・slit-pupils・black marbling beneath the limbs (only seen when hurt)・directly after a molt, the arms are a translucent black with dark-green shine that's almost metallic.・eyelids are naturally slightly green tinted (Amplified with makeup they apply)・Rather sharp/pointed claws (She has utilised these as tweezers and to aid in threading needles. Though she's afraid of scratching things easily, hence the gloves)・Theres a green pip at the base of their neck, towards the shoulderblade area, on the right. Touching or bringing your hand near it will make them recoil and flinch. Due to the nature of it being a pip, (Which can serve as another type of eye/ear) they will be able to feel someone trying to touch it before they get too close. This may make it hard to sneak up. (Works in Battat's advantage.)・2 green pips on each shoulder and one on their back・Blushes green, a blue-tinted green hue・They also have a tail with a 4-pointed star at the tip which is green. They tie it up for convenience to keep it neat/keep from catching on things. Only the Mikes have seen it. (More explained on reference page.) It behaves and reacts like a cat's tail.

They tend to worry a lot about how the other Pippinses and the Boss percieve them, so they tend to their looks/hygiene - and is rather overly-particular about it to try and ease those self-conscious feelings. (Stark contrast to her room which she never lets anyone in, anyway..)
Sometimes, they may fall into a depression and fail to take care of themselves for a bit. (The other two Mikes tend to look after them in such cases, in their reluctancy)

Yes. They have a figure. They have an ass/hips/thighs and are generally more femme in that area. (Nobody believes this, though... save for Tenna, who looks at that in general)
Despite that - they're naturally flat as a board and get enough flack for it as is, considering they're built more on the femme side. (As they like it.)
This just piles onto the self-conscious nature of this Pippins.

VC:
In my head, she sounds a bit like the way Stephanie Sheh voices Tharja, but less 'ominous and creepy' and just a bit... gloomy? Less sinister, more bored/tired/monotonous. This Battat's nature is much less 'intense' after all.
It has that slight nasaliness to it, and is a little high-pitched.
The way she talks in general (a bit dryly) can be compared to that of Ashley (of the WarioWare series)
As Mike? TBA. Haven't found an apt comparison, yet.
For now, imagine that voice being a bit lower, more masculine, and trying very hard to put on a Boston accent to match with Jongler.

It cracks a lot, embarrassingly so. Primarily when she's angry/yelling/ect. She tries to refrain from raising her voice unnecessarily to prevent this embarrassment. It seems to happen anyway considering her short temper.
(Not to mention it happens when she's flustered and excited, too...)

'122' being goroawase for 'pip' in Japanese (basically word-play/pun, ect); The abbreviation for December as 'Dec' has a similar sound/look to dice as well.
...also 002 having a birthday falling on 2 is pretty funny. Not to mention her being one of Dess' dice, having a birthday in December is also quite amusing.-credit to Maggie for the idea!

Tenna - Their Boss. In the Bigshot days, he had mild favoruitism over them for their hard-working antics. It lead to him getting attached to the Die rather easily, given his nature, until Spamton sabotaged that... Leading into other events which lead to Spamton leaving... which turned Tenna worse in every way (especially with how Spamton made Tenna feel like he NEEDED him) - even turning against Battat. Of course this and other factors lead into them taking on the role of Mike to be by Tenna's side again, despite how terrible he had become, fearing he wouldn't want to see them again. Their feelings towards him are hot and cold, but despite this, they still care for him deeply.

Spamton - The dreaded co-host. Battat and Spamton never liked eachother, and often times He would try to sabotage her in the workplace and whatever closeness she had with Boss. In -turn, she would try to often find ways to get Tenna away from Spamton, which he would certainly notice and turn things around in his own favour. They had a back-and-forth like this, often. A bitter rivalry and mutual hatred towards one another.

Pluey - Battat's long-time friend. Despite this, they never learned his real name because he never bothered to say it. Though, entirely possible because of his Mob-Boss status and wanting to keep more secretive. Over time as Mike, he took on the name Pluey and exclusively went by that. Battat thinks hes silly for it, but loves him no matter what. (Secretly, they think it's very cute.)

Jongler - One of Tenna's remotes that at some point worked a bit closely with Tenna. These two worried they might dislike eachother for their respective roles (Not to mention Battat initially being a bit initimdated by Zappers in general/Jongler fearing Battat would be just another troublemaker), but upon actually facing eachother and talking, they seemed to get along fine. Battat's really fond of them, but thinks they would never feel that way - hence her tsundere behaviours towards them...

Diamond - Another longtime friend of Battat's. They were once very, very close. Even a bit more open about their feelings for eachother, but once things in the studio started going south- so did their relationship. This lead to Battat thinking she lead them on. Especially when Diamond began growing more distant and avoidant of Battat after certain events. Battat tried to bury their feelings deeply and ignore Diamond's existence, as they were still very, very hurt. This did contribute to Battat having a harder time being more verbal with her feelings and increased self-doubt, relationship-wise. Lately, the two have been trying to mend this...

[Despite having 'lore connections', I'm okay with forming any connections with others - the character can definitely be standalone for anything else. I will regard it as such. I like to think this portrayal is flexible and information here are just a base/reference for how Battat feels towards these characters, save for DIamond who is an OC.]

Most of the issues she has, are typically based on my own experiences, albeit translated into a way that works for what she is/her story.
Considering I project my own mental stuff onto her - it's the reason behind her having: OCD, ADD, being autistic, having memory issues (tieing in with her note-taking), having audtitory+visual hallucinations, horrible paranoia, bouts of depression, social anxiety (for her - outside of the costume), and one other secret thing that only few know about.

Honestly, they're embarrassed by the placement of the random pips on their body. They have so many wear markings because they were lovingly used so much in the light world..
The tail they have is usually tied up neatly for the sake of it not catching on anything (With a red string, no less). After the shadowcrystal-event (which was mostly implied), it was modified into an aux-jack style.
The new tail became embarrassing to show outside of when in costume, as it fit the theme.
The tip of the tail is typically bigger. I need to correct this.
